Delaware Chapter of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship:
The Delaware Chapters of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship, formed in 2007, is based at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Georgetown.
Members work on local issues within their parish and communities, as well as national and international issues. Chapters sponsor and co-sponsor prayer and public witness such as peace vigils, liturgies, and service projects. The Delaware chapter of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship is one of 71 chapters across the United States connecting all who seek a deliberate response to injustice and violence and strive to pray, raise awareness, and take action for justice and peace in our community, our church and the world.
The Delaware chapter, which includes members from Maryland, meets the first Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Academy and East Pine Streets in Georgetown, Delaware. Peace Pole and Peace Garden Planted at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Georgetown, Delaware, in the spring of 2009.
The Peace Pole installation is only one of the Delaware Chapter of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship's projects designed to encourage justice and peace in our lives, our families, our communities, and our world.
The installation is intended to remind all who enter the church or the First Steps/Primeros Pasos Early Childhood Learning Center, which is housed in the basement of the church, of those goals and also offers an area for meditation.
The Peace Pole was blessed by the Reverend Earl Beshears, rector of St Paul's and co-chair of EPF Delaware.
Afterwards, students from First Steps/Primeros Pasos Early Childhood Learning Center planted a peace garden.
