Wanted: Program Director at Camp Arrowhead and Diocesan Coordinator for Youth Ministry

This full-time position will combine the functions of Program Director at Camp Arrowhead (1/2) and Diocesan Coordinator for Youth Ministry (1/2). The position will report to the Executive Director of Camp and Conference Centers with advisory responsibility from the Canon to the Ordinary and the Diocesan Council Program Committee. The position will be located at or near Camp Arrowhead with housing at Camp negotiable. Responsibilities will require regularly scheduled time working from the Diocesan Office in Wilmington. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The responsibilities of each part of the position:
Program Director at Camp Arrowhead
- Coordinate and manage process of attaining and maintaining accreditation from American Camping Association
- Develop and implement programming for the conference season. Includes working with Conference Coordinator to plan and staff all conference programs
- Work with Conference Coordinator to schedule and host conference groups
- Be responsible for the overall administration, staff training, staffing, marketing, program development and evaluation of the Challenge/Ropes Courses and the programs.
- Work with Summer Director on developing and delivering summer camp program
Possible Future Responsibilities:
- Assist in the hiring, training, mentoring and evaluation of the summer staff and part-time conference personnel
- Be responsible for the supervision, planning, program and evaluation of environmental education program
Diocesan Coordinator of Youth Ministry
- Work with and coordinate the diocesan Youth Ministry Council to plan regular diocesan youth events.
- Plan, organize, recruit for, and see that youth ministry activities are carried out which involve youth from throughout the whole Diocese. These activities could include such things as a Bishop's Ball, Winter Camps, and an Acolyte Festival.
- Work with the Provincial Youth Network to ensure that youth from the Diocese of Delaware are involved in all provincial and national Episcopal youth events.
- Work directly with parish clergy and lay leaders to ensure that opportunities for youth ministry are available to every congregation.
- Ensure that Camp Arrowhead and diocesan youth ministries are mutually supportive.
- Be present at Bishop and Council meetings to speak about Youth Ministry concerns. You would be expected to reflect how youth are involved in Diocesan life or are impacted by Diocesan decisions and will periodically report to Bishop and Council on a regular schedule to be determined by the Bishop.
- Participate in Safe Church and Inclusion training offered by the Diocese.
- Ensure that appropriate liability and "Safe Church" guidelines are followed at Diocesan youth events.
Possible Future Responsibilities
- Help congregations choose appropriate Episcopal resources for youth ministry curriculum. Ensure that training is available for resources such as Journey to Adulthood in cooperation with the Interfaith Resource Center, with Leader Resources and with local congregational leaders.
- Invite and encourage youth who are not members of our congregations to attend and participate in Diocesan youth events and activities.
- Cooperate with the Canon to the Ordinary and other Diocesan leaders to ensure that leader training and youth ministry programs are included at Diocesan events such as Parish Life Day and the Diocesan Convention.
- Develop collegial relationships with others working with young people in the Church, including St. Andrew's School, St. Anne's School and the Episcopal Campus Ministry.
The appraisal for the position:
- You will create measurable goals for your work as Program Director at Camp Arrowhead / Diocesan Coordinator for Youth Ministry.
- You will have a 6th month appraisal with the Canon to the Ordinary and Executive Director of Camp and Conference Centers. The Bishop will be involved in the appraisal as appropriate. After this, appraisals will be annual.
